Put 7 TBSP soy sauce in bag (make sure there’s enough to cover meat)
Mash/mix up all ingredients
Put in fridge to marinade overnight
Step-By-Step Day of Cooking Directions
Get meat out of fridge
Mince 1 head of garlic
Mash and cut 4 lemongrass stalks into finger length pieces
Get 3 star anise
Get 1 cinnamon stick
Get olive oil
Take out instant pot, try to put in location where when you release pressure and steam it will not hit cabinets, set to saute on high
Add olive oil as the put heats up
Once it prompts you that it’s hot, add these ingredients and cook 30 seconds (garlic, lemon grass, star anise, cinnamon stick)
Add the marinated beef and stir fry for about 8 min
During these 8 min get tomato paste, flour (1 TBSP), tomato sauce (1 jar or ~ 2 cups), green coco soda (1 can), beef broth (1 box) ready
4 minutes in, put in tomato paste and coat well
Once those 8 minutes are up, add the rest (flour, tomato sauce, green coco soda, beef broth)
Stir well and turn off saute function on instant pot (red button towards bottom right)
Put lid on instant pot, select meat/stew function, and set 20 minute timer
Trust the instant pot now. It will take time to reach pressure. It will take time for the display to switch from “On” to the timer (longer than you think it should). Once timer is finished it will count up with the letter “L” just letting you know how long the cook cycle has been finished for. Try to get to pressure cooker once the 20 minutes are up though, as to not overcook the meat
While meat is cooking, prep the following: 2 large onions (large dice), 10 carrots (peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces)
Once the 20 minute timer is done, turn off instant pot and use towel to turn knob to release pressure and steam (try to avoid steam getting on cabinets)
When the steam stops and the silver tab drops, it’s now safe to take off the lid
